People forget all this...they imagine it was some pretend group that mimed on stage, couldn't play and was over in 2 seconds..no one really knows the magical story behind the formation of this band..the years of rehearsing..the single minded belief..all the things that make groups great in Rock and Roll...........its a long story, one which Ill finish one day.............

Other stories to remember and some to forget..

Transsexual SS..the group we formed to act as our support act..mad LISA the transsexual (she used to prove it all the time..the girl with the wild laugh hung out with the band in the early days..how great to create a band around her.. Danny who was also around would play..an attack guitar..we would create a back track for them to perform over..this was performance art after all.. a 20 minute version of wild thing Very appropriate.. they opened for us when we played the Marrs Bar..a gangster dive in Praed street Paddington, they're mentioned in the record mirror review..basically they would come on looking great and visually/sonically/ and sexually attack the audience.. it created a real vibe for us to come on to.. the element of danger we needed.. they wound everyone up, Lisa loving every minute of being a star..it was a John Waters vision come to life.. canned off after 2 minutes at Kingston polytechnic, the worst was yet to come..somehow they became part of the whole madness, i used to sit in the back of the tour bus marvelling that I could have created such a monster!, I can hear lisa's insane laugh even now, culminating the nite we stopped in a truck stop to get drinks at 1am..Lisa standing on top of a table waving her huge tits at irate truckers shouting "you want this then...u wankers.." then the police arrived as X was taking a leak...madness

Mirror Vs the Sun - Tabloid war... Magenta had let Gary Bushell the sun showbiz reporter come with us on that first tour driving round in his jaguar wed sit at breakfast marvelling as he would invent stories for tabloid sensation "i know" he'd cry "live sex on stage" phone his copy thru after phoning Terry Dicks the MP for a renta quote.. John Blake, a friend was editor of the mirrors rival section, denied access, came out against the group and concocted equally outrageous counter stories.. like saying martin came on and told racist jokes, that the London show was half empty..stories so invented but really harmful..I remember him phoning me on tour saying he would give us the front cover if wed agree to the story that 21 century boy featured Deg nailed to a burning crucifix of TV screens and to be released on good Friday, Easter..great story actually.. the Sun countered with an offer that if we would break the wapping strike and ride into the compound with Sam fox on the back of a chieftan tank we could have the cover..slow news week i guess, i love Kelvin Mckenzie...

Assassinate Thatcher..2 girls came into my hotel room one night, well ok um stayed in my room one night... at a critical moment they said that if i gave them £20,000 that they would kill the prime minister and give sputnik the film rights for our next video... er cant we talk about this in 10 seconds time I said, I'm not really focused... anyway next day i was joking about it and my lawyer overheard... he called the police... next thing 10 special branch men were in my room questioning me in... detail... every detail. This is madness but true, a press blackout was placed on the story thank god , Janet would never buy my excuse, and they looked for the girls.. the girls contacted me again back in London... "we are in a hotel paid for by the news of the world, drinking champagne... they love the story... by the way that nite we taped the whole thing..." ever had that sinking feeling? Eventually special branch caught up with them and it was the last i heard of thank god... i still go cold thinking of all those special branch guys listening to the tape and transcribing it...

BOMB... we were playing a show at the Camden Palace as SCI FI Sex Stars when Mag called don't worry but someone has sent u a bomb to EMI Manchester square.. the police are evacuating the surrounding area... great... it turned out to be a hoax from a design company, but it was a toilet afternoon... scary

The Hookers in Rio, Riot in France, The USA tour madness, Bombers in Holland, The riot at Reading where Ray was arrested.....

There are so many stories like these, guess ill write it all down one day,
