CHAPTER 4 ..IN PIRATE SPACE!

We continued recording all the backing tracks at the new Sputnik studio in Somerset during 2000 and it was all coming together...over the last 2 years..there are as many tracks recorded and discarded as there are on the CD!...we then went to a studio called Britannia Row in London at Wandsworth to record the vocals..its a tiny little studio but it just has the magic and Degville sings great there..his voice has suddenly improved ten fold..Neals friends Oscar the mad Icelander and John Green who plays with us live now, helped with additional keyboards..Japanese man Yoshi let us use Westpoint studios, co owned by some one from Simply Red with their great digital desk to mix it and our old faithful friend and Sputnuk fan, the brilliant Michael Zimmerling (again!) engineered...the sleeve skull was designed in Argentina, the new logo in the USA, the graphics in Switzerland.. people emailed me the parts... global.

We continued playing the tracks live and it's amazing.. the vibe at the gigs is so great now..where as before it was like a war, now its a celebration, people love the news songs as much as the old songs, they've become Sputnik classics, Everybody Loves You, Slave Trade and the others....

Well its years down the cyberspace line now..we've finally finished the new album. and a pre release version is selling through Sputnikworld and the reaction has been fantastic...

I want to thank everyone who helped us... .we did deals everywhere.. begged and borrowed.. people who loved us let us use unbelievable studios for free..its as if suddenly there was this whole community of people out there who said to me..you know Tony we love Sputnik..we want to help you make this work, people who said they wouldn't have started in this business if it wasn't for Sputnik, they lent us computer equipment, gave us their time and faith and now we have a new CD and sold out shows...

I love the internet - It changed our lives..we are continuing to play gigs that come in via the net and fans buy tickets via the net.. Everything we have done and achieved has been through the net........I love it, its the new underground...... the name of the album, Piratespace, is because we feel anything is possible in cyberspace..its as if we can go in and just seize back what is ours and fly the Sputnik flag proudly again...

It's a long way from the star world of number 1 singles and celebrity parties, but you know .. this time its real, what we intended, no sell out, no compromise... future rock and roll

Watch it fly...
